5.1 Different types of converters and their applications
There are three types of converters:
4-quadrant single-phase rectifier (figure 16 a) delivering a regulated rectified voltage which, from the secondary voltage of the transformer, serves as a DC bus for supplying the inverter. It is reversible and operates as an inverter during regenerative braking.
