In certain favored areas, it's possible to exploit the great amplitudes of the tides (around 2 cycles per day) and recover a considerable amount of energy, but to do so requires building dams and modifying the configuration of coastal sites. For this reason, there have been very few achievements in the world, and by far the largest is the Rance tidal power plant
