2. Breakdown of LV tranche items

All HV equipment and connections are located in the outer part of the substation. As far as the LV section is concerned, the practical arrangements for installation in the substation are marked by particularities specific to each electricity transmission company. Nevertheless, certain general rules governing the presentation of equipment are observed by all.

2.1 Equipment presentation

The equipment making up the control section is generally installed in so-called protection cabinets, on which the various items of equipment are mounted: unit calculator, protection and automation equipment in drawers (19-inch wide racks).

Up until the 1980s, metal frames were also used to display equipment in boxes. A number of these are still in use...
