3. Installation of LV components

Installing LV unit components involves making the necessary connections between various devices (protection, automation, monitoring equipment, disconnector and circuit-breaker controls, etc.), which may be located either in the same unit (cabinets, switchboards, buildings), or in two different places (external part of the substation and relay building, or relay building and control building). All these connections, known as wiring, are used to create control and monitoring circuits according to a pre-established diagram.

The ways in which this is done are closely linked to the habits of the operators who use the systems. A description of what is done in France is given below.
