3.1 Voltage ranges

In France, there are four voltage areas (see [D 5030] ), which can be broken down as follows:

  • very low voltage (VLV). These are structures or installations for which the nominal voltage does not exceed 50 V in alternating current and 120 V in direct current;

  • low voltage (LV). These are structures or installations for which the nominal voltage value is between 50 and 1,000 V in alternating current and between 120 and 1,500 V in direct current (higher values included);
