3.1 Managing the intermittency of renewable energy production
Power generation from renewable energy sources (RES) is sensitive to environmental conditions such as wind speed, solar radiation, temperature and so on. This intermittent nature leads to unpredictable fluctuations in renewable energy production, complicating its integration into the power grid to meet electricity demand. Energy storage systems (ESS) therefore offer a solution for smoothing the intermittent energy generated by renewable resources by regulating their power profiles
