5. System validation tests

Based on the experience of a pre-series base run in 2000-2002, it was decided to divide the validation of the ERTMS system into four phases:

• a platform and simulator phase (figure 13 );

• a phase with a test train, but on a site limited in length and speed (figure 14 );

• a phase with the test train on a 40 km site at a maximum speed of 160 km/h, with the possibility of simulating trains running ahead of the test train;

• a phase on the actual LGV site.
