Reliability is the ability of a system to remain in good working order.

The availability of a system is the amount of time the system is operating correctly in relation to the elapsed time. In terms of probability, the availability of the supply system is the probability that the system will be able to supply the application under given conditions and at a given time.

Maintainability is the ability to return quickly from an incorrect operating state to a normal operating state. This notion is expressed in terms of repair time.

The safety of a power supply system is its ability to avoid a state in which there is an absence of power supply.
