3. Optimization
Designing or optimizing a device involves analyzing its performance, comparing it with the desired performance and, when objectives are not met according to established criteria, modifying certain parameters of the system's components according to certain laws. The general procedure is illustrated in figure 5 , where reference is made to the various modeling techniques seen above, as well as to the most common optimization techniques. When the device is complex and requires rigorous electromagnetic modeling, the analysis stage is the weakest link in terms of computer cost. That's why current research is focused on speeding up analysis methods. However, even with increasing computing power, it's hard to see how several dozen iterations would be realistic when electromagnetic calculations...
