Measurement methods and equipment are described in standards (NF EN 61340 in particular). Measurements can be taken in the laboratory as part of material characterization, or as part of acceptance testing or periodic verification of an EPA zone at an industrial site.

In the electronics industry, an in-house "ESD coordinator" is responsible for all matters relating to the protection of sensitive components (training and awareness-raising of personnel in ESD adapted to the workstation, assistance in the event of ESD-related problems reported by the quality manager, checking that procedures are followed, particularly by external visitors if they have to enter an EPA, etc.).
