5. Definition of implementation parameters

We will limit ourselves here to mentioning and defining the implementation parameters specific to the design of radio-frequency power amplifiers. Design rules will be specified in the second article [E 1 611] .

5.1 Polarization

Biasing refers to the application of DC voltages to the three electrodes of the active component (ground, collector or drain supply, base or gate supply). The design of biasing circuits must take into account two kinds of parameters: those relating to the operating class and reliability of the circuit (currents, maximum voltage, etc.) and those that will determine the quality of the amplification with respect to the RF signals to be processed...
