8. Conclusion

The NR radio interface incorporates the basic elements of the 4G-LTE radio interface, in particular waveform, basic time structure and layering, but considerably expands the options available. There are different numerologies, different antenna processing modes (beamforming, MU-MIMO, SU-MIMO) and great flexibility in the way the reference signals needed for antenna processing are organized. Allocation and sequencing mechanisms also offer a wide range of possible configurations.

Combining all the configuration choices for each mechanism makes the number of possible systems virtually infinite. It is likely that a reduced number of configurations will be implemented by operators.
