1.1 Performance targets for 5G

Performance targets or Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for 5G have been set during the preliminary work on standardization, for example in the European METIS project and in the work of the ITU. We focus on a few performance criteria [TE 7 360] :

  • peak data rates of up to 20 Gbit/s ;

  • spectral efficiency in bit/s/Hz per radio site multiplied by 3 compared with 4G ;...
