7. Conclusions
Today, 802.11 wireless network security standards are quite satisfactory from a security point of view. However, with the emergence of new functionalities in wireless networks, new developments are to be expected, in particular taking into account mobility and maintaining security while users are on the move, whether in the context of Wi-Fi-only networks or heterogeneous networks (Wi-Fi, 3G...). The IEEE 802.11f standard already offers this functionality in a Wi-Fi network: it aims to maintain the connectivity of terminals as they move from one access point to another, but security aspects are totally ignored in this standard. It is clear, therefore, that standards will be added to ensure not only that terminal connectivity is maintained, but also that security levels are maintained.
