Overview

ABSTRACT

Due to their increased use, in the military and in the civilian sector, DDS (Data Distribution Service) applications are experiencing strong growth in large-scale networks. However, their implementation is difficult and sometimes impossible due to certain characteristics of these networks such as long delays, bandwidth limitation and the interdiction of the use of certain protocols in operational networks (such as the multicast network). This article presents a proposal for interconnecting DDS applications on remote networks. The possibility of using the routing service of the DDS middleware layer through the implementation of an interconnection for DDS applications on wide area networks is analyzed. The concept of "Proxy DDS” which, compared with the previous solution, reduces the volume of traffic on the network is then presented.
