10. Band on demand

A 1.23 MHz CDMA broadband channel is a resource that mobiles will use according to their own needs, depending on whether they are transmitting speech, data, fax or any other application. At any given moment, the portion of this band not occupied by one user is available for any other user. This provides great flexibility that can be exploited, for example, for high-speed data transmissions. What's more, mobiles use this band independently, facilitating the coexistence of these functions on the same CDMA radio channel.
