2.1 Operating mode

A connection (N ) is an association established to enable communication between at least two entities (N + 1) identified by their address (N ). A connection (N ) is a service offered by layer (N ), enabling the exchange of information between entities (N + 1).

A connection (N ) has at least two connection ends (N ). These connect three elements as shown in figure 9 .
