1. The Internet of Things
1.1 Overview
In the global vision of the Internet of Things, the objects around us are endowed with the ability to communicate, process information, make decisions, and send information and commands. These functionalities make these objects "intelligent" in the sense that they are capable of operating autonomously.
The Internet of Things is therefore based on machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, with no human intervention in these exchanges. These objects will not be installed and used by telecom engineers, and this new branch of the Internet will not be administered by network engineers.
The idea is for these objects to be simply installed and put into operation.
