3. Specific technological developments for metavers

3.1 General

We are only presenting the technological developments specifically exploited in metavers, and not those achieved over the last thirty years for virtual reality. The goals of metavers are ambitious, and involve technological developments for the Internet and for telecommunications, in particular 5G, with the aim of offering new services. We briefly outline the evolution of the Internet from Web 1.0 to Web 3.0, while noting that some metavers are not based on Web 3.0. Metavers are therefore not the future of the Internet, as some people claim, confusing these two concepts and their uses. If someone is looking for information, today's Internet is sufficient, with its advantages and disadvantages.
