SDI (Serial Digital Interface) is an interface from the world of video. It's the 270 Mbits/s (33.75 Mb/s) serial link obtained by serializing the 27 million samples per second produced by the 4:2:2 signal, quantized to 10 bits in the 4:3 format, standardized since 1989 by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE 259M) and now widely used in digital video installations worldwide.
