5. Conclusion

There's no shortage of commercial proposals, among which the standardization bodies in our audio-video field have had to sort out. As a result, today's equipment manufacturers are able to market products that better and better meet our needs, depending on the target market, the distance to be covered and the desired data rate. At the same time, the physical supports for these links are forming an ever denser web around the globe, so active are the cable-layers. The cost of transporting information is falling dramatically.

The very diverse origins of these transfer interfaces can sometimes be a source of embarrassment, but it's important to realize that the results we've seen have only been possible thanks to the collaboration of specialists from fields as different, but complementary, as radio and television, computing and telecommunications.
