3.1 A few reminders about SCSI interfaces

The usual interfaces for accessing hard disks come, of course, from the computer world. SCSI (Small Computer Systems Interface) originates from an early interface called SASI (Shugart Associates Systems Interface), first developed in 1979. The first version of the SCSI family was standardized in 1986.

Since then, the various SCSI interfaces have been used primarily in Mac computers, and for a slightly shorter time in PC compatibles. RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks) architectures also offer a field of application largely reserved for them. Their gradual abandonment in favor of new interfaces has already begun. What exactly are they being criticized for?
