Cloud computing has grown considerably in just a few years. This rapid growth has, however, led to the emergence of many incompatible implementations, despite the efforts of standardization groups. The lack of standardization, particularly with regard to security and data protection, makes it difficult to compare offerings.
However, interoperability and service portability are becoming increasingly important, so that users can maximize their return on investment by choosing the most suitable offers, while avoiding being locked into a single provider.
