In this article, we have emphasized that embedded databases can be an adaptable solution for a variety of use cases. Their characteristics make them portable, easy to administer and accessible via local or offline applications.
With the boom in mobile and embedded applications, it's a safe bet that the development of embedded databases will accelerate, given the great need for adaptation underlying these applications. However, the programmatic management of an embedded database raises the question of how to control the evolution of its schema over time.
The challenge for the future will be to maintain the idea of the "right tool for the right job", at the cost of relaxing certain constraints, in order to best meet the needs of different applications (speed of access, storage capacity, etc.).
