2. CO2 capture chain – transport – storage

2.1 Design

Geological storage of CO 2 has been widely studied for some years now at international level, particularly in the USA, Japan, Australia and Europe.

The principle is as follows: CO 2 from a major source of emissions (industrial flue gases, or CO 2 -rich raw natural gas leaving a reservoir) is captured, concentrated and compressed, then transported to a suitable geological site for storage.
