2. Designing a lab-on-a-chip for chemistry applications

Numerous unit bricks are now part of the microfluidic "toolbox". Valves, mixers and chemical reactors have all been developed. The assembly of these technological building blocks has been carried out with different logics (integrated or modular systems), leading each time to the development of a microsystem specific to the targeted application.

There are several ways of manufacturing microsystems, whether in polymer or glass, and each requires specific expertise and experimental resources. The current trend is towards the design of hybrid microsystems containing both glass and one or more polymers, each with an interesting physical property (hardness, transparency, ease of processing, chemical resistance, etc.).
