3. Main esters and polyesters of industrial interest

3.1 Monomers

Esters are manufactured in very large numbers by the chemical industry for their various uses as solvents, plasticizers, perfumes and reaction intermediates, and it is beyond the scope of this article to list them all. We shall limit ourselves to a few major examples of saturated and unsaturated aliphatic esters, aromatic esters and cyclic esters.
