5. Elements of a technical-economic evaluation

Engineers wishing to evaluate a distillation, absorption or adsorption solution will find a wealth of equipment, materials and sizing rules on offer, enabling them to assess and compare different solutions.

Unlike these conventional processes, the membrane route is initially limited by the availability of industrial modules.

Gas permeation is a more recent technology, which has developed around a few major applications, for which a limited number of suppliers have developed a range of membranes and modules that are primarily designed to meet the specifications of these applications.
