3. Membrane transfer and selectivity

Membrane selectivity is induced by various types of mechanisms described in model form in paragraph 4 of [J 2 789] . The following paragraphs present the consequences of these phenomena on the selectivity of the various membrane operations from reverse osmosis to ultrafiltration, the influence of operating conditions on selectivity and discuss possible ways of improving selectivity.
