Commercial concentration > 99.8% by mass.

Melting temperature: 40.8 ˚C.

Boiling temperature: 181.7 ˚C.

Density at 20 ˚C: 1.072 g/cm 3 .

Viscosity at 45 ˚C: 4.0 mPa · s.

Refractive index at 45 ˚C: 1.540 2.

Appearance: crystalline mass or tangled needles, with a strong, characteristic odour.

Solubility: low in water (8% by mass) with demixing :

  • organic phase: water in phenol ;

  • aqueous phase: phenol in water....
