2. Pump selection

There are circumstances where a free and unrestricted choice of pump is not possible. For example, if directives or international obligations have to be met, or if special conditions prevail over all other project data. These cases are dealt with separately in the "Further information" section. . The following applies to the vast majority of pumps, where the choice is made on the basis of rational criteria.

2.1 Determining the family to which we belong

It is not possible to make an immediate choice of the pump best suited to the service required. We have to proceed in stages, the first of which consists in using statistical information, gathering everything that can be found in manufacturers' catalogs, to define preferred areas of operation....
