 INTRODUCTION

The overall cost is the sum of all expenditure relating to a pumping installation, from the moment the need arises to the moment of final dismantling. This recent and important concept has given rise, under the aegis of EUROPUMP and the Hydraulic Institute, to several publications, under the name of LCC (Life Cycle Cost).

The concept of total cost will have a definite influence on how a pumping installation is designed, and how it is operated. We recommend reading the most important passages in the voluminous document "LCC, Coûts du cycle de vie des pompes", published by AFPR.
