7. Phosphine and asymmetric catalytic processes
7.1 Catalytic and asymmetric Wittig reaction
As we have seen throughout this article, numerous solutions have been put forward in the literature to move towards greener chemistry, within the various categories of reactions promoted by phosphines. Among other things, this has made it possible to meet the expectations of industry, but also, and above all, to open the door to the development of processes that are both catalytic and asymmetric by using a sub-stoichiometric quantity of chiral phosphines. We're talking here about the development of asymmetric organocatalysis reactions. In order to prepare an enantiopure product from non-chiral substrates, it is necessary to use a compound that is itself chiral, which will "transmit" the chiral information onto the synthesized product....
