3.1 Stability of bleach solutions
Even at room temperature, bleach solutions decompose more or less slowly, releasing oxygen and/or producing chlorate. It is important to remember that:
the rate of decomposition increases with hypochlorite concentration and temperature;
Decomposition is catalyzed by numerous metal salts such as Ni, Co, and Fe, present in trace amounts.
The optimum concentration of free soda is around 10 g/L.
