2.1 Types of separation used in the aromatic complex

Various separation techniques are used within the aromatic complex. These techniques are used :

  • or to isolate certain cuts; for example the separation of the C 8 -aromatic cut from heavier compounds by distillation or the separation between aromatic compounds and other compounds on the C7 cut by extractive distillation;

  • or to produce high-purity aromatic compounds, such as toluene by distillation or paraxylene by molecular sieve adsorption....
