2. Regulatory complexities surrounding essential oils
Essential oils are derived from manufacturing processes that may differ from one another, and have a complex composition. This explains the difficulty of establishing a regulatory framework specific to these substances or to aromatherapy. No legal definition specific to essential oils exists to date. This lack of a precise legal framework raises a number of issues relating to claims for aromatherapy products, their composition and their use.
