4. Basic laboratory data for solid-phase development

4.1 List of basic laboratory data

The development of a process to obtain a polymorphic variety or a non-solvated or solvated solid phase can only be envisaged if the system's thermodynamic and kinetic data are known. There are three main points to consider:

1. identify solid phases by screening ;

2. know the relative thermodynamic stability of the solid phases found (including polymorphic varieties and solvates);

3. understand transition kinetics from one phase to another.
