Topical photoprotection is a complex field, both in terms of product formulation and demonstrating efficacy. Nevertheless, it is a real public health issue. It is therefore vital to be able to market products that are safe to use and provide very high levels of ultraviolet protection.

The number of filters available to formulators is extremely limited, especially in the UVA range. It is therefore important to step up research and bring new filters to market.
