POF; Plastic Optical Fiber
Plastic optical fiber used in data communications or for consumer use.
OM-x; Multimode Optical Fiber – -generation x
Multimode optical fibers classified/defined according to their generation. For each generation, a range of performance characteristics is defined. Thus, a third-generation (OM-3) optical fiber will be defined by its core diameter, numerical aperture, linear bandwidth, and attenuation.

Corresponds to the arcsine of the angle formed by the divergence or acceptance cone of an optical fiber.
FPGA: Field Programmable Gate Array (complex programmable logic component).
