2. Fluorescent OLEDs

Fluorescent OLEDs were the driving force behind the development of this new display and lighting technology.

2.1 Operating principle

Fluorescent OLEDs are based on fluorescent SCOs (molecules or macromolecules). When the device is energized, electrons and holes from the electrodes (figure 1 b) are injected into the SCO, combining to form electron-hole pairs called excitons in a ratio determined by the spin statistic of 25% singlet excitons and 75% triplet excitons (figure 2 )
