Certain types of premises require chemical air treatment:
by ionization to make the air healthier;
by irradiation to destroy micro-organisms;
by chemical drying to lower the moisture content.
Ionization and ultraviolet treatment are increasingly being replaced in cleanrooms by high air renewal and very fine filtration (absolute filters).
