Conclusion

The various case studies presented in this article help to understand the characterization of energy performance. Even if this characterization is often a matter for advanced engineering or research work, which must try to anticipate the energy and climate constraints of the 21st century, these case studies enable us to produce some recommendations.

The characterization of the energy performance of existing buildings must be informed by an analytical and systemic approach, specifying :

• the general framework for assessing energy performance, with the assessment method determined by taking into account at least the actual thermal characteristics of the building... ;

• an independent control system, based on data verification...
