2. Technology

The components found in heat pumps differ according to the type of application and the power range of the units. We generally find the same components as on mechanical vapor compression refrigeration machines (see article [1]).

In the following paragraphs, we present the main components used in heat pumps, according to the power range and type of application. We will also specify the constraints and limitations of their use. The information given below reflects the availability of the components at the time of writing, on the understanding that the heat pump sector is constantly evolving and that new technologies currently emerging are likely to assert themselves in the future, particularly with regard to natural fluids and in particular CO 2 .
