Conclusion

Civil engineering works are fundamentally linked to the subsoil. A good knowledge of the subsoil is therefore a prerequisite for the construction of infrastructure under appropriate technical and financial conditions. While geology is best understood by specialists, the geologist must be able to pass on his observations and interpretations to all those involved in a civil engineering project. This involves a pedagogical approach on the part of the geologist, clearly presenting his understanding of the terrain, and therefore also the uncertainties. For their part, the engineers involved in a project have everything to gain from a basic understanding of geology, so that they can best receive the geologist's "message".
