4.1 Issues

One of the advantages of numerical models is their ability to account for soil-structure and structure-soil-structure interaction mechanisms.

Theoretically, these mechanisms can be tackled directly by building an overall numerical model explicitly integrating the structure and the soil supporting it, as illustrated by the example in figure 9 .
