1. Definitions

Fatigue-corrosion tests use fatigue terms, specified at [63] , and corrosion terms, specified at [64] . Some definitions, however, are typical of fatigue-corrosion tests (ASTM standard E 742, see [Doc. M 135]).

Fatigue-corrosion: the combined effect of fatigue and an aggressive environment acting simultaneously, leading to a deterioration in fatigue behavior.

Deaeration: the process of removing gases from a liquid environment before and during fatigue testing.

Environment: the set of chemical elements and energy surrounding the test sample.

Corrosion cell: container holding the useful part of the test specimen.
