3. Conclusion

The main developments in recent years have focused on software applications, partial automation, and, above all, the widespread adoption of the techniques presented. Until recently, these techniques were reserved for large organizations with substantial resources. However, the equipment currently available and affordable has more limitations than the cutting-edge equipment used for research and development.

The likely trend is toward ever-greater accessibility of equipment, both in terms of quantity and, above all, quality. This will lead to more frequent use for tasks increasingly related to process control and quality assurance, and will encourage more companies to enter the world of metallurgical R&D.
