6. Annealing treatment

The aim of annealing is to give the steel a structure and a level of softening that will make it easier to process. The expected consequences of this treatment are :

  • easier machining;

  • easier shaping by mechanical transformation;

  • a structure suitable for subsequent heat treatments.
