8. Parts layout

It is strongly influenced by the particular characteristics of the metal:

  • low modulus of elasticity ;

  • good yield strength/density ratio ;

  • good resistance to impact deformation ;

  • high vibration-damping capacity ;

  • chemical and galvanic corrosion resistance.

The design of a part is the result of taking into account the parameters required to achieve good metallurgical health, good mechanical strength in service, good corrosion resistance and economical casting and machining.
