6. Surface treatments

Like most other metals, magnesium can undergo two types of corrosion: chemical corrosion and electrochemical corrosion (also known as galvanic corrosion).

  • Highly effective protection systems enable magnesium alloys to be used in very harsh environments, thus preventing chemical corrosion (table 6 ).
